Do Terrarium Plants Need Water?

Do terrarium plants need water, or can they survive on the moisture inside the glass? How often should you water them to keep the terrarium healthy without overdoing it?

Terrarium plants can survive on the moisture inside the glass for a while, but they still need some water to thrive. The closed environment of a terrarium creates a self-sustaining ecosystem, where plants release moisture into the air and it condenses back onto the plants, but this cycle can be disrupted if the terrarium is too dry or too hot. I'd recommend checking the terrarium regularly and watering sparingly, as overwatering can be detrimental. A good rule of thumb is to water only when the soil feels dry to the touch, usually every 1-3 months, depending on the plants and the environment.

Terrarium plants can survive on the moisture inside the glass for a while, but they still need some water to thrive. The frequency of watering depends on the type of plants, the size of the terrarium, and the environment it's in. Generally, you should check the terrarium every few days and water sparingly if the soil feels dry to the touch. Overwatering is a common mistake, as it can lead to mold and root rot, so it's better to err on the side of caution and underwater slightly. A good rule of thumb is to water only when you notice a slight decline in moisture levels.
