If you’re looking at taiga (boreal forest) plants, the toughest ones are mostly evergreens like spruce, pine, and fir; they’re built to handle long, freezing winters. You’ll also see larch (which interestingly loses its needles), along with low-growing plants like mosses, lichens, and shrubs like blueberry or lingonberry. I’ve noticed these plants survive not just because of cold tolerance but because they’re adapted to poor soil and short growing seasons, which is really what makes the taiga so harsh.
