I want to grow ginger at home and need a simple step-by-step guide, from selecting ginger to harvesting it.

Plant fresh ginger rhizomes with buds in well-draining soil, 1 inch deep, buds facing up. Keep soil moist, place in warm partial shade, and harvest after 8–10 months when leaves yellow.

Start by soaking the ginger overnight to remove growth inhibitors. Plant it 2 inches deep in rich, well draining soil with the buds facing up.

Select fresh ginger with visible buds. Cut into 1–2 inch pieces and dry overnight. Plant 1 inch deep in loose, well-drained soil with buds facing up. Keep soil moist, not soggy. Place in partial shade. Harvest after 8–10 months when leaves turn yellow.
