How do I grow a pineapple plant from the top at home?

I just bought a fresh fruit from the grocery store and I’ve seen people successfully sprout the crown instead of throwing it away. I’m looking for a step-by-step guide on how do i grow a pineapple plant from the top using just a jar of water or direct soil. Specifically, I want to know how much of the fruit flesh I should remove to prevent rotting and how long it typically takes to see the first signs of root growth in an indoor environment.

To grow a pineapple plant from the top, you'll want to twist or cut the crown off the fruit, making sure to remove about an inch of the fruit flesh below the leaves to prevent rotting. You can then place the crown in a jar of water or directly into soil, keeping the water level just below the base of the leaves or the soil consistently moist. It usually takes around 1-3 weeks to see the first signs of root growth, and 1-2 months for the plant to start producing new leaves, indoors with plenty of indirect sunlight and warmth.
