How can I grow an avocado plant from a pit at home?

Hey everyone, I want to try growing an avocado plant from a pit at home. Has anyone done it successfully, and what steps should I follow for best results?

I've successfully grown avocados from pits at home and I'm happy to share my experience. First, dry the pit for 2-3 days to prevent mold growth, then insert 3 toothpicks into the sides and suspend it in a cup of water, making sure the bottom third is submerged. Replace the water every few days and once roots and a sprout appear, transfer it to soil and keep it in a sunny spot, watering regularly.
