I've had a Monstera plant for a while now and I've found that it does best in bright indirect light, so placing it near a window with a sheer curtain is perfect. Direct sunlight can actually scorch the leaves, so it's better to filter the light. I've tried putting it in a low-light corner before and while it can still grow, it doesn't thrive as much as it does in brighter conditions. East- or west-facing windows are ideal, and if you don't have those, you can also use grow lights to supplement the natural light, it's been working great for me.
