How much water does a taro plant need to thrive?

I recently planted a taro plant and heard it loves water. Should I keep the soil constantly wet, or is occasional watering enough?

"Hi guys, I've had a taro plant for a while now and it does love its water. In fact, it thrives in consistently moist soil, but make sure not to overwater. I'd say aim for about 1-2 inches of water per week, either from rainfall or a soak in a tray. It's a great tip to check the soil moisture with your finger before watering."
