How do you plant water chestnuts at home?

I’m interested in growing aquatic vegetables and want to try water chestnuts. Can anyone explain how to plant water chestnuts properly? Do they need a pond, or can they grow in containers?

To plant water chestnuts at home:
  1. Get fresh Water Chestnut corms (not dried)
  2. Use a wide container or tub with muddy soil
  3. Keep it waterlogged (2–4 inches water above soil)
  4. Place in full sunlight
  5. Harvest after 6–7 months when leaves turn yellow
Tip: They grow best in warm climates with plenty of water.

To plant water chestnuts at home, use fresh, firm corms and a large, undrained container. Fill it with 6 inches of muddy soil, bury corms 2 inches deep, and maintain 2–4 inches of standing water. Place in full sun and harvest after 6–7 months once the foliage yellows.
