How deep to plant potatoes for the best yield?

I’m planning my garden and need to know how deep to plant potatoes to help them grow properly. Does how deep to plant potatoes change depending on soil type or potato variety? Any advice on spacing along with how deep to plant potatoes would really help.

Plant potatoes about 4–6 inches (10–15 cm) deep in loose soil. As they grow, mound more soil around the stems (hilling) to boost yield and protect developing tubers.

The seed potato of plants should be planted 4- 6 inches (10-15 cm) deep and in loos soil with good drainage to get the maximum of it. Separate them 12 inches in rows with 2 -3 feet spacing. With the growth of the plants, the hill soil narrows around the stems to promote more tubers and shield them against sunbeams to increase their production and quality.
