The local wildlife is destroying my flower beds, and I’m looking for a natural solution. Which deer repellent plants actually work and aren't just a myth? I’m looking for a mix of shrubs and perennials that are unappealing to animals but still look beautiful. If you’ve successfully used deer repellent plants to protect your more vulnerable flowers, please share your top picks!

I've been trying out various deer repellent plants in my garden for a while now and I think lavender and rosemary are the most effective at keeping them away. These herbs have a strong scent that deer find unpalatable and they tend to avoid areas where they're planted. I've also noticed that marigolds and chives seem to have some deterrent effect, although it's not as strong as the herbs I mentioned.

Some of the best deer-repellent plants for gardens include lavender, rosemary, marigolds, sage, and yarrow. Deer usually avoid these because of their strong scent, bitter taste, or rough leaves.

These plants help naturally discourage deer from eating other plants in the garden.

"I've had great success with planting lavender, rosemary, and chives around my garden. These herbs have a strong scent that deters deer without harming them. I've also found that planting garlic and hot peppers in the soil can be effective. Mixing in some physical barriers like fencing or mesh can also help keep deer out."
