Hi everyone, I’m interested in growing King Palm plants and would love some advice. What are the ideal conditions for their growth, like sunlight, watering, and soil type? Are they better suited for indoor or outdoor planting, and how do I keep them healthy year-round?

King Palms love bright indirect light, well draining rich soil, and consistent watering without letting the roots sit in water; they thrive outdoors in warm climates but do great indoors near a sunny window too, just keep the soil slightly moist and they’ll stay happy year round.

Ideal conditions for growing King Palm (Archontophoenix):
  • Climate: Warm, subtropical to tropical; thrives in USDA zones 9–11.
  • Light: Bright indirect light to partial sun (young plants prefer some shade).
  • Soil: Well-draining, rich, slightly acidic soil.
  • Water: Regular watering; keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
  • Humidity: High humidity preferred.
  • Temperature: Best between 65–85°F (18–29°C); protect from frost.
