I’m planning to grow corn at home. What are the steps, spacing requirements, and basic care needed for successful growth?

Plant corn in full sun with well-draining soil. Sow seeds 1–2 inches deep and 8–12 inches apart, with rows 30–36 inches apart. Keep soil consistently moist, fertilize lightly, and remove weeds. Support growth by thinning seedlings if crowded and watch for pests. Corn is ready to harvest about 60–100 days after planting.

To grow corn at home, start by selecting a spot with full sun and well-drained soil, then prepare the soil by loosening it to about 8 inches deep. Plant the seeds about 1 inch deep and 6-8 inches apart in blocks, rather than long rows, to improve pollination. Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil consistently moist during the first few weeks. As the plants grow, provide support if necessary and fertilize lightly, you can also mulch around the plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds, with proper care and enough space, your corn should be ready to harvest in about 3 months.
