I want to plant asparagus and need proper guidance. What is the correct planting method, soil preparation, and care routine?

Choose a sunny spot with well-draining soil. Dig trenches about 12 inches wide and 6–8 inches deep. Plant asparagus crowns 12–18 inches apart, cover with 2 inches of soil, and gradually fill the trench as shoots grow. Water regularly, mulch, and avoid harvesting the first 2–3 years to allow strong roots.

To plant asparagus properly, you should start by preparing the soil with a mix of compost and well-rotted manure, as asparagus prefers a rich and fertile ground. Choose a spot with full sun and good drainage, and dig trenches about 12-18 inches deep. Place the asparagus crowns at the bottom of the trench, spreading the roots out evenly, and then fill in the soil, making sure not to cover the buds. Water well and keep the soil consistently moist during the first year, and you'll need to fertilize annually to promote healthy growth.
