I want to grow an avocado plant from a seed at home. Can someone explain the correct steps and share useful tips for better germination and growth?

Clean the seed, insert toothpicks, and suspend half in water. Place in bright light. After sprouting roots and stem, plant in well-drained soil, keeping top exposed. Water moderately and ensure drainage.

I’ve grown one on my windowsill. Just clean the seed, stick 3–4 toothpicks in it, suspend it over a glass of water with the bottom touching the water, and keep it in a warm sunny spot. Change the water every few days and be patient because sprouting can take a few weeks.

Planting an avocado seed is very easy: first, clean the seed; second, put about 3-4 toothpicks around the middle of the seed; and third, set it on top of a glass of water so the bottom half is underwater. Place it in a warm sunny window and change the water frequently; roots and a sprout commonly show up in a couple of weeks, and then you can put it in soil. For great success, a fresh seed is ideal, soil should not be too dry or wet, and the plant should be exposed to lots of sunlight.
