How far apart should I space boxwood shrubs planting?

I’m planning boxwood shrubs planting along my walkway. I want a neat hedge look—what spacing and pruning tips should I follow?

I’d space them about 1.5 to 2 feet apart for a nice full hedge, and just trim lightly a couple times a year to keep that clean shape without stressing them too much.

Generally, the distance between planting boxwood shrubs should be 1 to 3 feet, depending on the type and the look you want. If you want a very thick hedge, then plant them closer, about 1 to 1. 5 feet apart, so that they will quickly fill in. If you want individual plants or a more natural look, then space them 2 to 3 feet apart to ensure good air circulation and growth. Also, look at the typical mature width of the specific type of boxwood you want, as some species are wider than others. Good spacing not only helps to prevent diseases but also gives you healthy, well-shaped shrubs in the long run.

"I've had good luck with my boxwood shrubs when I planted them 12-18 inches apart. That way, they're not too crowded, but still look cohesive as a hedge. Just keep in mind that they'll spread out a bit more as they mature, so it's okay to start with a bit more space between them."
