How Do You Take Care of a Dumb Cane Plant Indoors?

I’ve just added a dumb cane plant to my office, but the lower leaves are starting to turn yellow. Is this a sign of low light or overwatering? I’ve read that a dumb cane plant (Dieffenbachia) likes bright, indirect light, but I’m struggling to find the "sweet spot" in my room. Any advice on keeping the variegation sharp and the stalks strong would be great.

Place Dumb Cane in bright, indirect light. Water when the top soil dries, keep warm temperatures, use well-draining soil, wipe leaves, and fertilize monthly during the growing season for healthy growth. 🌿

I've had a dumb cane plant in my home for a while now, and I've found that yellowing lower leaves can be a sign of both low light and overwatering, so it's a bit tricky to diagnose. However, if you've just brought the plant into your office, I'd say it's more likely that it's adjusting to the new light conditions. Try moving it to a spot that gets bright, indirect light, but not direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. Also, make sure you're not overwatering, as this can cause the roots to rot and lead to yellowing leaves. Check the soil moisture before watering, and avoid getting water on the leaves to prevent fungal diseases. With a bit of experimentation, you should be able to find the right balance and keep your dumb cane plant happy and thriving.

To maintain a dumb cane plant in the house, make sure it is in bright and indirect light, soil is constantly moist but not wet, and the humidity is high. Do not expose to cold drafts and direct sunlight. Plant monthly during growing season, trim yellow leaves, use gloves- its sap may irritate the skin and eyes.

To care for a dumb cane plant, provide bright, indirect light and keep soil consistently moist but not soggy. Maintain high humidity and warm temperatures, avoiding cold drafts. Fertilize monthly during the growing season and wear gloves when pruning, as the sap can cause skin and eye irritation.

For the cultivation of a Dumb Cane (Dieffenbachia), indoor conditions require plenty of bright indirect light and constant moisture. Provide good humidity and do not expose to cold air. Feed monthly when growing actively. Clean leaves from dust and be careful since Dieffenbachia juice is poisonous.
