I’m trying to plant opuntia in containers but unsure about soil type and watering frequency. Does it need full sun all day?

When planting an Opuntia cactus in a pot, a well-draining cactus mix and a container with holes to allow drainage should be selected. Put the cactus in an upright position, surround the base with soil and press. Use small quantities of water by letting the soil dry out in between watering. Keep in sunny, shady light and do not overwater to avoid rot.

Plant Opuntia (prickly pear) cactus in pots by using a well-draining, gritty cactus mix, a container with ample drainage holes, and allowing cuttings to callous for 1–2 weeks before planting. Place the pad one-third deep into the soil, keeping it upright with rocks if necessary. Place in bright light and avoid watering until roots form.

Plant Opuntia cactus in a well-draining potting mix inside a pot with drainage holes. Provide full sun, water sparingly, and avoid watering immediately after planting to prevent root rot.
