How do I maintain an algae ball plant in an aquarium?

I bought an algae ball plant for my fish tank, but it’s losing its shape. Do I need to clean or rotate it regularly?

"I've got a few algae ball plants floating around in my aquarium and I've found that they're surprisingly lowmaintenance. I just make sure to trim them back every now and then to keep them from getting too long and root-bound. Water changes and regular fertilizing also seem to help keep them healthy and thriving."

In order to keep an algae ball, also known as Marimo, in an aquarium, one has to keep it in fresh water with low to moderate lighting and keep it cool. It also has to be rolled every week to keep its round shape and prevent algae from accumulating on its surface. The water also has to be changed every 1-2 weeks.

To maintain a marimo (algae ball) plant in an aquarium, keep it in cool, clean water, roll it gently every few days to maintain shape, avoid direct sunlight, and change the water every 1–2 weeks.
