Do violet flowers come in an indigo color?

I’m trying to design a monochromatic garden bed and I’m looking for a very specific, deep blue-purple hue. I’ve seen many light purples and lavenders, but I’m looking for something much more saturated. Based on your gardening experience, do violet flowers come in indigo color naturally, or is that a shade usually reserved for hybrid salvias or irises?

I've had my fair share of gardening experiments and I think I can help you out. Violet flowers can indeed have a deep blue-purple hue, but it's pretty rare to find them in a true indigo color. While some violas and pansies can have a darker, more saturated tone, it's often more of a blue-ish purple rather than a pure indigo. You might have better luck with some of the deeper colored petunias or even some of the more exotic orchids, which can have a really rich, velvety indigo color. Hybrid salvias and irises are also a great option, like you mentioned.

"Hey there, flower lovers. After digging a bit, I found that violet and indigo are often used interchangeably, but technically violet refers to a specific shade of purple. Indigo is actually a deeper, richer shade that's more intense than violet. So, it's unlikely you'd find violet flowers that are indigo in color.
