I’m confused whether beans are considered vegetables or legumes. Can someone explain their classification and how they fit into diet categories?

Beans are legumes, not true vegetables. They come from plants in the Fabaceae family and grow in pods containing seeds. Nutritionally, they’re often grouped with vegetables, but botanically and agriculturally, they are classified as legumes, like lentils, peas, and chickpeas.
