When should you plant daffodil bulbs for proper blooming?

I want a vibrant yellow garden come springtime, but I know these bulbs require a specific period of cold dormancy. I'm worried about planting them too early while the ground is still warm or too late when the frost has already hardened the soil. Could someone clarify when to plant daffodil bulbs in temperate zones to ensure they have enough time to establish roots before winter?

Plant daffodil bulbs in autumn, about 6–8 weeks before the ground freezes. This allows roots to develop in cool soil, ensuring healthy growth and proper blooming in spring.

For a vibrant yellow garden come springtime, you should plant daffodil bulbs in the fall, about 6 to 8 weeks before the ground freezes. This allows them enough time to establish roots before winter, which is crucial for proper blooming. In temperate zones, September or October is usually a good time to plant, when the daytime temperatures are still mild but the nights are getting cooler. Avoid planting too early when the ground is still warm, as this can cause the bulbs to sprout prematurely, and don't wait too late when the soil is frozen, as this makes it difficult for the bulbs to establish roots. Planting at the right time will give your daffodils the best chance to bloom beautifully in the spring.
