What Is the Best Method for Buxus Hedge Planting?

I want to create a formal border in my front yard using boxwoods. When it comes to buxus hedge planting, how far apart should each individual shrub be placed to ensure they grow into a seamless wall? I’m looking for tips on soil preparation and whether it’s better to do buxus hedge planting in the spring or fall to avoid root shock.

The best method for planting a Buxus hedge is to prepare a well-drained soil bed and space the plants evenly in a straight line. Dig holes slightly larger than the root balls, place the plants at the same depth as in their pots, and water thoroughly after planting. Regular trimming helps maintain a dense and neat hedge.

To plant a healthy Buxus hedge, choose a sunny or partially shaded location with fertile, well-draining soil. Space each plant about 30–45 cm apart for a compact hedge. Water regularly during the early growth stage and prune lightly to encourage thick, uniform growth.
