Hi, I’m a beginner gardener and want to know the best way on how to germinate seeds at home. Should I use soil, paper towel, or soak them first? Any simple tips for good results would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey! I usually soak the seeds for a few hours, then either plant them in moist soil or use the paper towel method to check if they sprout, just keep them warm and don’t overwater. I started with tomatoes this way and was so excited seeing the first tiny shoots pop up

I started gardening a few years ago and I've had good luck germinating seeds using a combination of methods. I usually soak the seeds in water for 24 hours to give them a head start, then I plant them in soil, about a quarter inch deep. You can also use a paper towel to germinate seeds, just make sure to keep it moist. I've found that using a warm location, like a sunny windowsill, and keeping the soil consistently moist helps with germination. It's also a good idea to read the specific instructions on the seed packet, as some seeds have unique requirements.

I started gardening a few years ago and I've found that using a paper towel method works really well for germinating seeds. You can wet a paper towel, place the seeds in the center, and then fold it over, keeping it moist in a warm spot. This helps to soften the seed coat and encourage growth. Once you see a sprout, you can plant it in soil. Soaking seeds before planting can also help, but be careful not to overdo it. Some seeds are sensitive to too much water, so it's best to check the specific seed type for any special instructions.
